About Me

I’m an educator, amateur philosopher, professionele terme, obsessiewe fisikus en 'n optimistiese skrywer. My kolomme verskyn gereeld in 'n hoë profiel kwantitatiewe finansies publikasie genoem WILMOTT Magazine en in 'n Singapoerse koerant genoem Vandag.

I was born in the picturesque hill resort of Munnar in die suide van Indië in 1965. I received my undergraduate degree from the Indiese Instituut van Tegnologie, Madras in 1987. Guided by my affinity for physics, I then joined the Departement Fisika van Syracuse Universiteit as 'n nagraadse student. I studied fundamental particles and their interactions at the CLEO samewerking by die Cornell Universiteit in 1990-'92. After receiving my Ph.D in 1993, I moved to Marseilles, France and continued my research with the ALEPH samewerking op CERN, Genève. During my 10-year career as a research scientist in the field of high energy physics, I co-authored over 190 publikasies.

My work in this institute resulted in four invention disclosures, waarvan twee is ingedien vir patent, en talle akademiese referate. (Sien asseblief die CV vir geselekteerde publikasies.) Later, I was involved in the NeuroInformatics group, fokus op die brein masjien Interface en neurale sein verkryging en verwerking, which gave me the perfect opportunity to further understand and appreciate the role of perception in physics. The outcome of my professional research career and philosophical bend of mind is my first book, Die onwerklik Heelal.

In 2005, I switched to quantitative finance, die hoof van die kwantitatiewe ontleder span by OCBC, 'n plaaslike bank in Singapoer. Hierdie middel kantoor werk, waarby risikobestuur en die beperking borrelende handelaars, gave me a thorough overview of pricing models and, miskien meer belangrik, perfekte begrip van die konflik-gedrewe implementering van die risiko-aptyt van die bank. Later, I moved to Standard Chartered Bank, die sorg van hul in-huis handel platform, which further enhanced my “groot prentjie” outlook and inspired me to write Beginsels van Kwantitatiewe Ontwikkeling.”

A decade later, after a short sabbatical, I decided to take up what is likely to be my last career — a professorship at Singapore Management University, teaching business modelling and data analytics, which were also the theme of a couple of startups I was involved with during this time.
